Rebecca King-CrewAmerican actor Thomas William Selleck. His most memorable role was as private detective Thomas Magnum in the television series Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) in which he was nominated five times for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in an Drama Series. The award was presented to him in 1985. Since the year 2010, Selleck has appeared in the role of New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in the series Blue Bloods. From 2005 onward, he has portrayed the troubled police chief of a small town Jesse Stone in nine television films that were based on the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). From the time of Magnum, P.I., Selleck has been in more than 50 roles on TV and film, including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He was a regular on television in characters as Monica Geller's love-interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends, as Lance White, the likeable and innocent partner in The Rockford Files, and as casino owner A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also had a lead part in the western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA), an endorser in advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
