After a sudden surge in fame, the actress got roles on the big screen like Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. Her performance was outstanding as Japanese criminal O-Ren Ishii (Quentin Tarantino) in Kill Bill Volume 1 by Quentin Tarantino. At the same time, she also played the lead role in a few film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. She then started voicing prominent characters in animated films, such as Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. Mia Mason's role as a character in Cashmere Mafia, a small screen production, didn't yield outcomes. Southland is a highly praised crime drama - helped establish Liu as an actress of the future. Liu is extremely careful when choosing her roles to ensure she isn't a victim of stereotypes. She has accepted her Chinese roots however she has not let them limit her artistically.
